AJA HELO Plus H.264 Streamer and Recorder

The AJA HELO Plus is a compact stand-alone appliance that offers advanced H.264 streaming and recording capabilities. The HELO Plus has both SDI and HDMI Input / Output and can stream up to 1080p60 to two Content Delivery Networks while also recording to a combination of SD card, USB storage, and network storage. It also supports Picture-In-Picture and graphics functionality for easy presentations. It is suitable for a variety of streaming service needs, including eSports, news, sports, education, live events, and more.

Hardware

HELO Plus is a compact, stand-alone streaming and recording device with a small desktop footprint. It features stream and record buttons on the front of the unit, as well as LED indicators and audio level meters for monitoring incoming audio. The device is fanless and silent, making it ideal for use in noise-sensitive environments. Additionally, the SD card and USB ports are located on the front of the unit for easy access.

Remote or Local Control

HELO Plus can be configured remotely using a standard web browser, through an Ethernet connection, and on a desktop or laptop computer. The device's functions can be accessed through the WebUI, and multiple HELO Plus devices can be controlled through a tabbed browser window. Once set up, the device can also be controlled through the front-panel stream and record buttons, with audio-level LED meters for monitoring, or through the included web-based UI. Additionally, the device offers the option for remote control via its integrated REST API.

SRT Support

HELO Plus includes SRT (Secure Reliable Transport), an open-source video transport protocol and technology stack developed by Haivision that optimizes streaming performance over unpredictable networks with secure streams and easy firewall traversal. SRT is designed to bring the best quality live video over even the worst networks. The SRT Open Source Project, supported by the SRT Alliance, is a community of industry leaders and developers working to improve the open-source SRT. HELO Plus's inclusion of SRT (plus encryption) ensures secure, low latency, and reliable delivery of streaming video content.

HELO Plus offers professional digital I/O and is designed to be the central hub of your streaming service. The easy-to-access front panel buttons make starting and stopping your stream simple and convenient.

Operational Flexibility

HELO Plus is a compact and silent streaming and recording device that can fit on any desktop and can be easily operated using the front-panel start/stop buttons or remotely from a desktop or laptop computer via Ethernet. It's designed to be flexible and can be configured and deployed to meet a wide range of streaming needs, including sports, news, education, eSports, remote workflows, and more. It also offers REST API capabilities, allowing for user-developed integration and automation, making it a versatile solution that can be adapted to any scenario.

Simultaneous Stream and Record

HELO Plus is capable of simultaneously streaming and recording in 1080p60 in multiple configurations.

• Stream to two destinations and record to SD local storage simultaneously
• Stream to two destinations and record to USB local storage simultaneously
• Stream to two destinations and record to NFS/CIFS network storage simultaneously

The recorded backup of the video stream in H.264 format can be used for editing purposes. The storage option can be chosen based on the user's needs, such as network storage for easy edit sharing or SD card or USB recording for easy transfer to clients or editors.

Calendar Integration

HELO Plus offers a variety of new streaming workflows for AV, live events, houses of worship, webcasting, corporate communications, production, and post-production. It features a scheduler that allows for pre-planned start and stop recording and streaming, making it ideal for projects that require specific schedules. The schedule can be programmed locally through HELO Plus' web UI, imported from .ics files, or linked to external calendar providers such as Google Calendar, making it easy to manage and plan your streaming projects.

Dual Streaming Outputs

HELO Plus offers dual encoders for streaming outputs, providing the flexibility to create different output settings from a single input source. The two encoders can have different packaging settings and different output frame sizes, allowing a single content stream to be presented in different ways to reach a wider audience. It also allows for duplication across both encoders for added resilience. The outputs from either of the encoders can also serve as the source for the HELO Plus recording system, making it a versatile and reliable streaming solution.
