Roland V-1HD Switcher with UVC-01 HDMI Encoder Bundle

Description

The Roland V-1HD Switcher with UVC-01 HDMI Encoder Bundle is a portable 4x HDMI Input Switcher is a versatile video switcher, features an audio mixer (12 channel) and Two HDMI outputs. This switcher support HDCP and resolutions up to Full HD 1080p. V-1HD allows mixing 4 stereo HDMI audio inputs, the stereo line level, and a mic level input. The V-1HD has a multi-view preview screen that shows all four sources on a single display. With a Remote iPad App connected to this switcher, users allow switching video, mix audio, and change settings.

Roland V-1HD makes it easy to connect and switch cameras, smartphones, computers, tablets, Blu-ray players, and other HDMI sources with a simple push of a button or slide of the T-Fader. It supports professional compositing effects such as picture-in-picture and keying allowing for graphic insets, titling, or even “green screen” ideal for news broadcast or corporate training productions.

Input and Output
The Roland V-1HD is built to support a maximum of 4 HDMI input sources. Apart from being able to switch the HD cameras, the switcher also allows the user to connect the computer and other devices with the compliant HDMI signal. Besides, it also supports HDCP pass-through, therefore it can be connected to a set-top box, Blue-Ray player, or any other device with HDCP protection. This switcher supports 108050/60I/P and 72050/60P video formats. Here the interlaced signals are converted automatically to progressive and the user can also choose from two deinterlacing methods like weave and bob.

There are mainly two HDMI outputs available in this mixer. One is the program output and another one is the preview output. The latter is programmable and it can be assigned to display a quad-view, a preview or a duplicate of the program output. Besides, the output format also decides the frame rates and accepted input resolution.

Switching
Switching on the Roland V-1HD is quite similar to using some other hardware M/E video switchers and this also supports PST/PGM mode. The user needs just needs to push the input buttons located on the active bus to change to a different input immediately by using a straight cut. On the other hand, choosing an input on the non-active bus will change the preview output. The user needs to move the T-bar to the transformer or manually switch buttons to switch between the program and preview by using a set transition duration.

Filters and effects
There are mainly four filter effects in Roland V-1HD to select from and these include: Color Pass, Silhouette, Find edge, and Negative. These are ideal for a creative kind of live work and along with the BPM sync function, these filter effects can also please Roland's video DJ market.

Besides, there are 30 kinds of wipe effects and 4 kinds of mix effects to select from. Roland V-1HD also features 3 types of compositing effects, namely: Picture-in-Picture, Luminance Key/Chroma, and Split.

Audio mixing
The Roland V-1HD comes with professional features of audio, which differentiates it from other switchers or video-only switchers with incorporated audio features. Roland V-1HD can actually mix a maximum of 12 audio channels through six stereo channel outputs. There are mainly four HDMI audio channels, a line-level RCA input, and a mic-level mini-jack input. For the outputs, the audio can be sent out through the mini-jack headphone output, HDMI outputs, and RCA outputs. Besides, both the headphone outputs and mini-jack mic-level input have some convenient level of control knobs located on the hardware regulator.

Here the professional audio controls can be controlled through a handy menu, which appears either through the app or on the preview output. On the input level, it is possible to control reverb send, EQ, and delay. Moreover, the mini-jack mic-level input can also add a gate, high pass filter, and compressor and on the master output level, it is possible to control audio by using reverb and EQ along with the volume enhancer and noise suppressor.

While working with HDMI audio inputs of V1HD it is possible to separately mix every input level or to set these switchers to the audio-follows-video that automatically toggles to the equivalent implanted HDMI audio while changing the camera angle. It is also possible to assign the RCA inputs and mini jacks to follow one of the four HDMI inputs. The user can actually use the RCA outputs in case the user needs to offer an audio feed for one PA system.

The audio channels can be accessed by pushing the audio button, which is the matching input. Besides, the video input buttons can also double as the audio channel buttons on the A bus a meant for HDMI inputs, and the mini-jack, RCA, master controls on the B bus, and audio follow video off/on. Therefore, the user can take the help of the T-bar to direct the level.

Memory
Roland V-1HD can save presets for effect, audio, and output settings to one of the 8 buttons located on the hardware control, which are also accessible on the remote app. This thing is just great when the user wants to set and recall different show configurations quickly. It is also possible to back up the setting to the remote app in case you want to opt for an upgrade or factory restore while experimenting with different settings.

Accessing controls
There are mainly two methods of accessing control for the Roland V-1HD switcher, one is by using the free remote app of Roland that is available on Mac, Windows, and iPad and another is by using the hardware controls available on this switcher. The remote app connects to Roland V-1HD through USB-B and shows the complete details of all the controls on hardware switcher, including the transitions and effects selected by the user, level controls, and full audio VU meters for each output and input.
